In this paper, I explore possible correlations between life satisfaction and perceived family support for emerging adults who were enrolled in college. The main finding of this study is that emerging adult women have lower life satisfaction when compared to men. For women, when their families understand their desires and show them respect it is correlated with higher life satisfaction. This information can highlight the importance of family sociology for understanding life satisfaction, and help universities and colleges prepare their students for the ambiguous feelings that accompany emerging adulthood and help these students communicate their needs to their families.
